Testnet is live — what shipped and what comes next

A complete breakdown of what launched with the Sanect testnet, what we deliberately held back, and how to connect and start participating today.

in brief6 min read

An accounting of what shipped in the Sanect testnet on chain ID 76287, what was deliberately held back, and how to connect MetaMask and participate.

  • Chain ID 76287 spells SNCT on a T9 keypad; CometBFT targets 400ms blocks with finality within 1–2 seconds.
  • Shipped: 50 permissioned genesis validators, a live EVM layer, staking dApp, block explorer, and zero-priced gas with a faucet.
  • Held back: the shielded pool (Noir circuit, UltraHonk verifier) and IBC relayers, both targeted for testnet phase 2.

Chain ID 76287

The Sanect testnet is live. Chain ID 76287 is active, producing blocks, and open to the public. The number is not arbitrary — 76287 maps to SNCT on a T9 phone keypad (7=S, 6=N, 2=C, 8=T), which felt like the right kind of detail to embed in the chain's identity from day one.

This post is a complete accounting of what shipped in this release, what we explicitly chose not to include yet, and how to connect. We believe in transparent roadmapping: if a feature is not in this list, it is either in the next phase or not yet committed to.

What Shipped

Core Node and Consensus

The Sanect node runs CometBFT consensus (the renamed, actively-maintained fork of Tendermint Core) with a target block time of 400ms. In practice, finality is reached within 1–2 seconds under normal network conditions. The node binary is available for Linux/amd64 and Linux/arm64, with Darwin builds for local development.

The genesis set includes 50 validators selected from the testnet validator program. All validator slots are permissioned for this phase — open validator registration is planned for the next testnet iteration once slashing parameters have been stress-tested.

EVM Layer

The EVM module is fully live. The chain is compatible with standard Ethereum tooling: MetaMask, ethers.js, Hardhat, Foundry, and any tool that speaks JSON-RPC will work against the Sanect RPC endpoint. The EVM runs at the same finality guarantee as the Cosmos layer — there is no separate EVM confirmation window.

To connect MetaMask, add a custom network with the following parameters:

  • Network name: Sanect Testnet
  • RPC URL: https://rpc.testnet.sanect.com
  • Chain ID: 76287
  • Currency symbol: SNCT
  • Block explorer: https://explorer.testnet.sanect.com

Staking dApp

The staking interface is live at stake.testnet.sanect.com. Delegators can bond testnet SNCT to any of the 50 genesis validators, claim staking rewards, and redelegate between validators. The interface supports both MetaMask (via the EVM address) and Keplr (via the Bech32 address) — both resolve to the same underlying account through the address mapping layer described in our architecture post.

EVM Block Explorer

A full EVM block explorer is live at explorer.testnet.sanect.com. It indexes transactions, contract deployments, ERC-20 transfers, and internal calls. The explorer also exposes the Cosmos-side data: validator sets, governance proposals (none yet), and IBC channel state (channels exist but no relayers are connected in this phase).

Free Gas on Testnet

Gas on the testnet is priced at zero. You do not need a faucet to send transactions — any account with any SNCT balance can transact without worrying about gas. The faucet at faucet.testnet.sanect.com dispenses 10 SNCT per request and is rate-limited to one request per address per 24 hours, primarily to allow staking tests without needing to acquire meaningful balance.

What Was Not Shipped

Two features were explicitly scoped out of this phase:

  • The shielded pool — Noir circuit integration and the UltraHonk verifier are in active development. The shielded pool will launch in phase 2 of the testnet, targeting Q3 2026. Rushing a privacy primitive into production is not a tradeoff we are willing to make.
  • IBC relayers — The IBC module is compiled in and channels can be created, but no canonical relayer paths are active yet. Cross-chain asset transfers will come in phase 2 alongside integration with the Cosmos Hub and Osmosis testnets.

How to Participate

The most useful thing you can do right now is deploy contracts and stress test the EVM. We want to see edge cases in the EVM-to-Cosmos translation layer, unexpected gas behavior, and any divergence from standard Ethereum JSON-RPC semantics. File issues at the public bug tracker linked from sanect.com/testnet.

Validator applications for the next genesis set are open. If you run infrastructure and want a slot in the next testnet phase, apply through the validator program page.

Chain ID 76287 is live. The work has moved from whitepapers to blocks. Everything from here is in the open.

Questions this answers3 · straight from the article
How do I add the Sanect testnet to MetaMask?

Add a custom network with RPC URL https://rpc.testnet.sanect.com, chain ID 76287, currency symbol SNCT, and block explorer https://explorer.testnet.sanect.com.

Why is the Sanect testnet chain ID 76287?

76287 maps to SNCT on a T9 phone keypad (7=S, 6=N, 2=C, 8=T), a detail embedded in the chain's identity from day one.

Is the shielded pool live on the Sanect testnet?

No. The shielded pool was explicitly scoped out of this phase while Noir circuit integration and the UltraHonk verifier are in development; it targets phase 2 in Q3 2026.
